Warehouses

Stock Up on Energy Savings

Take control of your operating costs with energy-saving strategies in your government or municipal warehouse. Smart energy investments can deliver immediate savings that can help you get the most out of your budget. Energize Connecticut helps you prioritize improvements and identify funding resources to make your projects affordable.

Overview

Because they are often unoccupied, warehouses are strong candidates for energy-saving upgrades that reduce lighting and HVAC costs. Energy-efficient technologies can also provide significant savings in warehouses with controlled environments. Energize Connecticut’s partners are ready to work with you to identify opportunities that deliver a range of benefits including lower operating costs through energy savings and reduced maintenance; improved comfort and healthier indoor environments for employees; and lesser impact on the environment, contributing to a clean energy future.

Warehouses are moving beyond simply providing storage. Many now offer high-tech inventory tracking and value-added services such as quality control testing and repackaging. As warehouses evolve and energy consumption grows, energy efficiency improvements can make a difference for the bottom line.

Warehouses in the U.S. spend an average of $0.70 per square foot on energy. For some, energy costs exceed 10 percent of total revenue. Heating and lighting – the two largest energy consumers – account for 64 percent of total warehouse energy use, making them the best targets for energy-saving investments1.
