Starting Feb. 7, 2016, through Feb. 13, 2016, Anuj Sisodiya, a Trumbull High School senior, is encouraging all residents of Trumbull to take part in Energy Savings and Awareness Week (E-SAW). This initiative was sparked from a lifelong passion for environmental protection. Sisodiya is a finalist for a $14,000 Barton L. Weller scholarship for his commitment to this energy-saving project and, as a 2015 eesmarts™ winner, has been working hard to carry out this town wide initiative.
Throughout the week, residents will participate in various challenges based around energy conservation culminating in a one-hour shutdown of all non-essential electronic items Saturday, Feb. 13th. Participants are invited to take pictures and submit them to the official Facebook page.
Each day, participants will be chosen at random to show that they are agents of change. Those who enter a photo for all seven days may be picked to be the most energy conscious home in Trumbull.
The week will proceed as follows:
Ø Selfie Sunday: Take a selfie while doing something that will improve the environment.
Ø Monitor Monday: Take a photo of the energy meter outside of your home.
Ø Tech Tuesday: Go through your home and see if you can find any piece of smart technology that is helping you save energy. If so, take a picture with it!
Ø Work Wednesday: Take a photo saving energy at work or school.
Ø Turn Off Thursday: Take a photo turning off and unplugging all electronics you won’t need for the rest of the week.
Ø Fix It Friday: Go through your home and fix anything that might be wasting energy. Take a photo of your project.
Ø Showdown at Sundown Saturday: In correlation with the Earth Hour initiative, turn off all your lights for one hour and unplug ALL non-essential items (TVs, microwaves, phone chargers, etc.). Take a photo of your participation.
“We are proud to support Anuj and his commitment to energy conservation,” said Sheri Borelli, senior business development professional, The United Illuminating Company. “We encourage all Trumbull residents to take the time to conquer each challenge as it will afford each participant an understanding of the simplicity behind adapting to a more energy-efficient lifestyle.”
If you have any additional questions, please contact Anuj at email@example.com.
