We help make it affordable to upgrade to an ENERGY STAR® certified heat pump water heater with a $650 discount for eligible models. Whether you’re replacing an old water heater or installing one in a new home, you'll save money up front.

For customers who meet certain income eligibility guidelines, even greater incentives may be available through the Home Energy Solutions℠ – Income Eligible program.

How to get started

Check Eligibility

  • Rebates are available to residential electric service customers. All customers of Eversource or UI can participate.
  • Unit must be installed in the service territory of the participating utility.
  • Unit must be ENERGY STAR certified with:
    • Integrated HPWH with ≥ 3.40 Uniform Energy Factor (UEF) or for 120 volt/15 amp circuit ≥2.20 UEF
    • Split-System HPWH with ≥2.20 Uniform Energy Factor (UEF)

What is the rebate process?

We help make it affordable to upgrade to an ENERGY STAR® certified heat pump water heater by offering incentives two ways. Work with a contractor to receive an instant discount at the point-of-purchase when a qualified unit is purchased from a participating supply chain partner on your behalf or take advantage of incentives directly when you purchase through one of our retail partners.

    The easiest and fastest way to get your rebate.

    When your installing contractor purchases a qualifying unit at a participating distributor in Connecticut, a $650 instant discount will be automatically applied to the eligible equipment cost.

    We strongly encourage you to contact a licensed contractor to ensure proper installation of your heat pump water heater. You or your contractor can receive a $650 instant discount on ENERGY STAR certified models through participating distributors listed on our Find a Distributor page.

    Eversource and United Illuminating (UI) partner with several retailers across the state to offer you instant discounts and/or paper rebates for heat pump water heaters. You may purchase a heat pump water heater directly from the retailer to receive an instant rebate.

    Present the bar code at the register and an instant rebate of $650 will be applied to the purchase price. Available at the following Connecticut retailers:
