We offer heat pump rebates based on equipment size (tonnage). To pick the right heat pump for your home, consult with a qualified contractor that participates in the Energize CT Heat Pump Installer Network. Once you've installed a system that meets the minimum energy efficiency requirements noted on the rebate form, you can claim your rebate.
How to get started
Check Eligibility
- Rebates are available to residential electric service customers. All customers of Eversource or UI can participate
- Equipment must be installed in the service territory of the participating utility
- Equipment must be ENERGY STAR certified and must meet the minimum requirements on the rebate form. Minimum requirements differ depending on the type of Ground Source Heat Pump
- Equipment must be installed by a contractor participating in the Energize CT Heat Pump Installer Network.
- Equipment must replace oil, propane, natural gas, or electric baseboard as the primary heating system.
- The purchase of this energy-efficiency equipment may also qualify for a valuable tax credit, and we encourage you to retain all records related to your purchase and any associated rebates. Please consult with your tax professional for expert guidance tailored to your situation, helping you to determine the specifics of your eligibility and navigate the process of claiming the tax credit effectively. Technical Details
- Tonnage is based on Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) cooling capacity. (1 ton = 12,000 BTUs). Tonnage is calculated by dividing AHRI cooling capacity by ton and rounding to two decimal places

When finalizing the contract, be sure to mention your intent to participate in the Energize CT rebate program and confirm that the installer is recommending qualifying equipment.
This step must be completed before moving on to register your rebate.
Effective July 1, 2024, Eversource and Avangrid residential customers applying for a heat pump rebate will need to register your rebate online (preferred) or by mail, before starting the heat pump installation to qualify. Wait for approval on your registration to verify that the equipment meets rebate eligibility requirements before proceeding with the installation. This may be sent by email or mail. Please note that rebate registrations are valid for 180 days from the date of approval.

- How do I register my rebate? Visit the online portal to begin the process, which will take effect July 1, 2024: EnergizeCT.com/rebates . Your registration ID # will be required upon final submission of your rebate.
- Is there a paper application form I can use? Yes, it will be made available by July 1, 2024. Please note: using a paper registration will take longer to review and approve. We encourage our customers to utilize the online portal.
- What information do I need to register my rebate? You will need to have selected your heat pump installer from the Energize Connecticut Heat Pump Installer Network and have a signed contract for your heat pump installation.
- Is there an expiration date for a rebate registration? Yes, rebate registrations for heat pumps expire 180 days from the date of approval. This means your heat pumps must be installed and your rebate application completed within 180 days of rebate registration approval. Review of heat pump project timelines and extension requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
- Does the rebate registration step mean I might not receive my rebate after my heat pumps are installed? Qualified heat pump installations are still eligible for rebates. Per our standard rebate terms and conditions, the rebate amount may be subject to change without notice.
- Are you granting rebate registration extensions if my heat pump is not installed within the 180-day window? Ground source heat pump project timelines will be handled on a case-by-case basis and coordination of your rebate registration with your ground source heat pump installer is highly encouraged. You will need to contact our rebate processing company if you need to request an extension. Extensions are not guaranteed and are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. - If I’m already scheduled to install my heat pump (after July 1), do I still need to register for a rebate? Yes, you will still need a rebate registration for any project not installed by July 1, 2024.
- I already installed my heat pump and I did not register my rebate. Am I still eligible for the rebate? For installations completed before July 1, 2024, we will process rebate applications without a rebate registration. We will confirm eligibility based on the date on the invoice.

- Once your rebate registration is approved, you may proceed with installation. Please be aware that any changes to the equipment being installed need to be updated with our team in order to receive the rebate. Changing equipment after registration approval could result in loss of eligibility.
