How to get started
Check Eligibility
- Customers of Eversource and United Illuminating with multifamily buildings or complexes of five or more units in Connecticut may be eligible for the Multifamily Initiative
- Equipment must be installed in the service territory of the participating utility
- Equipment must be installed by a contractor participating in the Energize CT Heat Pump Installer Network
- Equipment must replace oil, propane, natural gas, or electric baseboard as the primary heating system. If an existing oil, propane, or natural gas system will be left in place, an integrated control from the Energize CT Integrated Control Qualified Product List must be installed for all heating zones where it will remain in use
- The purchase of this energy-efficiency equipment may also qualify for a valuable tax credit, and we encourage you to retain all records related to your purchase and any associated rebates. Please consult with your tax professional for expert guidance tailored to your situation, helping you to determine the specifics of your eligibility and navigate the process of claiming the tax credit effectively. What is the process?
Please follow the steps below to apply for the Multifamily Initiative:
Complete the application and submit it to your utility company, along with your or your contractor’s proposal(s) for energy efficiency upgrades. Your utility company will then review both your application and proposal(s).
Once your application is approved, a pre-inspection of proposed upgrades may be conducted. Afterward, the utility will issue a Letter of Agreement, which serves as a formal commitment to the incentives.
After the energy efficiency upgrades are installed, a post-inspection will be performed. Upon successful completion, the incentive payment will be issued for qualifying upgrades.
