Your building’s Energy Management System (EMS) controlling your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment may be malfunctioning or have outdated control strategies. With the Retro-commissioning Program, an approved retro-commissioning engineering firm evaluates how your mechanical equipment, and related controls operate and function together. They can recommend control strategies that optimize the performance of your EMS to maximize energy savings. If your facility is over 100,000 sf and has a functional direct digital control EMS, you can submit a Retro-commissioning Application to be considered.
What is Retro-Commissioning ➞
Retro-commissioning (RCx) is a systematic process to improve how equipment and systems function together in an existing building. RCx can often resolve problems that occurred during building start up or address problems that have evolved throughout the building’s life. RCx ultimately enhances control strategies to improve building energy performance.
RCx is also a very cost-effective way to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy costs. Since it focuses primarily on optimizing existing equipment through low-cost improvements, customers find it more cost-effective than installing new equipment.
