Smart thermostats let you create heating and cooling programs right from your phone, which you can adjust manually or with voice commands through connected apps. They also provide you with data you can use to make smarter energy decisions and have great features like movement sensors and temperature preference learning, which finetune their programming based on your habits.
According to a 2010 survey from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, 89 percent of respondents rarely or never used their programmable thermostats to set a program.
