How to get started

Check Eligibility

  • Rebate is valid for residential electric customers of Eversource and UI.
  • Rebate is valid for qualifying air source heat pumps to replace an existing heat pump, to add to a previously unconditioned space, or when used for cooling only.
  • Equipment must be installed in the service territory of the participating utility.
  • Equipment must be installed by a contractor participating in the Energize CT Heat Pump Installer Network.
  • Note: If replacing natural gas, oil, propane, or electric resistance as the primary heating source, please see Residential Energy Optimization Incentive.
  • The purchase of this energy-efficiency equipment may also qualify for a valuable tax credit, and we encourage you to retain all records related to your purchase and any associated rebates. Please consult with your tax professional for expert guidance tailored to your situation, helping you to determine the specifics of your eligibility and navigate the process of claiming the tax credit effectively. Technical Details

  • Equipment must be listed on the Energize CT Heat Pump Qualified Product List.
  • Tonnage is based on Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) cooling capacity. (1 ton = 12,000 BTUs). Tonnage is calculated by dividing AHRI cooling capacity by ton and rounding to two decimal places.
  • To receive your air source heat pump rebate, your installer is required to include information about the system being installed on your invoice. Please use this example heat pump invoice as a reference to make sure you have the information you need to submit for your rebate.

To help you make the switch, you can receive incentives up to $15,000 per home for purchasing eligible heat pumps.

Heat pump incentives are offered based on system size (tonnage) and are available after the installation of your heat pump.

    Find a qualified installer

    When finalizing the contract, be sure to mention your intent to participate in the Energize CT rebate program and confirm that the installer is recommending qualifying equipment.

    This step must be completed before moving on to register your rebate.

    As of July 1, 2024, Eversource and Avangrid residential customers applying for a heat pump rebate need to register their rebate online (preferred) or by mail, before starting the heat pump installation to qualify. Wait for approval on your registration to verify that the equipment meets rebate eligibility requirements before proceeding with the installation. This may be sent by email or mail. Please note that rebate registrations are valid for 60 days from the date of approval.

    Frequently Asked Questions (Date last updated: June 17, 2024)

    • How do I register my rebate? Visit the online portal to begin the process, which will take effect July 1, 2024: EnergizeCT.com/rebates . Your registration ID # will be required upon final submission of your rebate.
    • Is there a paper application form I can use? Yes, it will be made available by July 1, 2024. Please note: using a paper registration will take longer to review and approve. We encourage our customers to utilize the online portal
    • What information do I need to register my rebate? You will need to have selected your heat pump installer from the Energize Connecticut Heat Pump Installer Network and have a signed contract for your heat pump installation. 
    • Is there an expiration date for a rebate registration? Yes, rebate registrations for heat pumps expire 60 days from the date of approval. This means your heat pumps must be installed and your rebate application completed within 60 days of rebate registration approval. Review of heat pump project timelines and extension requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. 
    • Does the rebate registration step mean I might not receive my rebate after my heat pumps are installed? Qualified heat pump installations are still eligible for rebates. Per our standard rebate terms and conditions, the rebate amount may be subject to change without notice. 
    • Are you granting rebate registration extensions if my heat pump is not installed within the 60-day window? Rebate registration extensions for all heat pump projects are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed. Ground source heat pump projects may take longer to complete, so coordination with your installer is highly encouraged to ensure timelines are met.     Once your rebate registration is approved, you may proceed with installation. Please be aware that any changes to the equipment being installed need to be updated with our team in order to receive the rebate. Changing equipment after registration approval could result in loss of eligibility.
