How to get started
Check Eligibility
- Rebates are available to commercial and industrial electric customers of Eversource and United Illuminating.
- Equipment must be installed in the service territory of the participating utility.
- Equipment must be installed by a contractor participating in the Energize CT Heat Pump Installer Network.
- Rebate amount cannot exceed 75% of the total installation cost.
To Claim the Energy Optimization Rebate:
- Equipment must replace oil, propane, natural gas, or electric baseboard as the primary heating system. If an existing oil, propane, or natural gas system will be left in place, an integrated control must be installed.
Technical Details
- Equipment must be AHRI rated. Heat pumps under 5.4 tons must be on the Qualified Products List. Heat pumps 5.4 tons or greater must meet the minimum requirements on the measure list.
- Tonnage is based on AHRI cooling capacity. (1 ton = 12,000 BTUs). Tonnage is calculated by dividing AHRI cooling capacity by ton and rounding to two decimal places.

- Pre-Approval required for projects totaling more than 20 tons, or more than $30,000 in rebates

What is the process?
To support your business in making the switch, incentives are available for eligible heat pumps:
- up to $1,500 per ton for air source heat pumps
- up to $2,100 per ton for variable refrigerant flow (VRF) heat pumps
- up to $4,000 per ton for ground source heat pumps
Heat pump incentives are offered based on the system (tonnage) and are available after the installation of your heat pump.
